The Review

What would a buyer find in the operating side of your business, and what would it cost you?

In short

The Review is an evidence-based assessment of the operating side of your business, done the way a buyer’s diligence team would do it, before a buyer does. It takes about three weeks, has a fixed fee, and ends with a written report you can act on yourself.

What question does the Review answer?

What would a buyer find in the operating side of this business, how and when would they find it, and what would it cost you? It is the smallest complete piece of work Corefield does, and it should be worth the money even if you never do anything else.

Who is it for?

Owners who have seen a Check result they didn’t like, or who simply want to know where they stand before a broker, a buyer or a family member asks. It fits businesses with roughly $1 million or more in revenue and at least three people besides the owner.

What happens during the Review?

Records are reviewed, the work is seen on site as it really happens, and your people are interviewed in confidence. Nothing they say is attributed to them. Everything is scored on evidence across all six dimensions, with the lowest one reported on its own.

The Review looks at the operating side of the business: management and dependency, operations and equipment, systems and records, customers and suppliers, pricing and licences. Legal, tax and financial matters are noted only so you can take them to the right professional.

What do you leave with?

  • A written report, built to stand up in front of a buyer, that sets out what a buyer would find and what to do about it.
  • Your Index scores, with the lowest dimension shown prominently.
  • An in-person debrief. It starts with what is strong, covers the few findings that matter most, and then stops. There is no sales pitch at the end. The report is written so you can act on it yourself.

How long does it take?

About three weeks from start to debrief, with the report sent to you two days before you meet so you have time to read it.

What does it cost?

A fixed fee, agreed in writing before work starts. It depends mainly on the number of people and sites involved and is discussed on a short call. There is no success fee and no hourly billing. If you go on to the Blueprint within an agreed period, the Review fee is credited toward it.

What comes next?

Often nothing for a while, and that is fine. Some owners fix the findings themselves using the report. Some go on to the Blueprint to get a date, or straight to the Crossing to do the work.
