How long could you disappear before something in your business breaks?
Most owners who can’t sell assume the problem is finding a buyer. Usually it’s simpler than that, and harder. The business can’t run without them, and buyers can see it from across the room.
There are no right answers. Most of what this measures is normal for a business built by one person, and nearly all of it can be changed with enough runway. You’ll see your score straight away.
What does the Check measure?
Seven areas where a business most often depends on its owner.
How long you can be away, whether the work is written down, who holds the biggest customer relationships, how concentrated your revenue is, who sets prices, whose name the licences are in, and who besides you understands the numbers. Four more questions, about sector, revenue, team size and timing, change how the result is read, but not the score.
Your result is a percentage, a band and your weakest area. The weakest area matters most: a buyer prices the single point of failure, not the average.
What doesn’t the Check do?
It tells you whether there is a problem, not what exactly it is, what fixing it costs or how long it takes. It doesn’t give recommendations, and it isn’t a valuation. It is a screen: the same idea as a quick inspection before a full survey.
Can I do the Check by phone instead?
Yes. The call version takes about twenty minutes, goes a little deeper with follow-up questions, and you receive a one-page summary afterwards. It costs nothing and there is no obligation. Ask for a call.
Who sees my answers?
Nobody can see them as yours. The Check runs in your browser, and nothing that identifies you is sent anywhere unless you choose to send it with a message. If you send your result with a message, it stays confidential and is never shared with anyone else. See Our commitments and the privacy notice.
