What is the Corefield Handover Score?

It’s a score from 0 to 100 that shows how well your business runs without you. We measure it across the six handover areas: the work, the customers, the numbers, the decisions, the outside relationships and the licences.

Runs on you0–34
Leans on you35–59
Nearly there60–79
Runs without you80–100
  • Runs on you The business can’t carry on without you yet.
  • Leans on you It works, but leans on you in important places.
  • Nearly there A few places still need you.
  • Runs without you It runs without you, and you can show it.

How is it different from the free Handover Check?

The Handover Check is based on your own answers. It takes ten minutes and shows where to look.

The Handover Score is based on evidence. We talk to your people, look at your records and see the work happen. Only what can be shown counts. That’s what makes the score something a family member, a bank or a buyer can rely on.

What happens during the Handover Score?

We spend time in your business. We talk to your managers and staff in confidence, and nothing they say is quoted with their name. We look at the records you keep and see how the work is really done. Then we score each area, and show you your weakest one on its own.

It takes about three weeks.

What do I get?

  • Your starting Handover Score, with a score for each of the six areas.
  • A written report that shows what someone taking over would find, and what to do about it. It’s written so you can act on it yourself.
  • A sit-down debrief. We start with what’s strong, cover the few things that matter most, and then stop. No sales pitch.

What is a certified score?

After the Handover Program and a passed Three-Week Test, we measure the business again, the same way as at the start. You get your certified Handover Score and a Corefield Handover Certificate.

The certificate records what we measured and saw, and when. It shows the before-and-after scores, the signed record of your three weeks away, and anything that is still open. If something didn’t improve, it says so. That honesty is what makes the rest believable.

A Handover Certificate is not a guarantee of the future, and it isn’t a valuation.

What does it cost?

A fixed fee, agreed in writing before we start. It depends mostly on the size of the business and how many sites it has. We talk about it on a short call. If you go on to the Handover Plan, what you paid is credited toward it.

What happens next?

Sometimes nothing for a while, and that’s fine. Some owners work through the report themselves. Some go on to the Handover Plan to set a date. Some go straight to the Handover Program.
